2013 economic freedom report: indonesia
Indonesia significantly depends on the increasing domestic production of oil, gas, coal, and other energy sources. Energy is known to be the largest export and the second largest import. Indonesia is the 108th freest country in the 2013 index, and there is a total of 196 countries in the world. According to Finpro, “Indonesia had a GDP growth rate of 6.5% in 2011; the World Bank estimates the growth at 6.2% in 2012. Such rapid growth rate would see firms thirst for immense funding to expand domestically. Indonesia had private equity (PE) deals at USD 545m (the greatest value in Southeast Asia) in 2011, and is projected at USD 1 billion in 2012.” This shows that the domestic production is beginning to guide Indonesia to economic growth. With every strength there's a weakness and for Indonesia that is a lack of educational facilities and inefficient legal and investment regimes. Each of these influence a decline in how Indonesia functions.
