Addressing education in indonesia
"Education is the road that children follow to reach their full potential." This quote stands true in all nations around the world. Indonesia has made a tremendous progress in ensuring primary school children get an education. However, 2.5 million children are currently not attending school in Indonesia, 600,000 of primary school age and 1.9 million of junior secondary school. Using statistics from the provincial and district levels, it shows that students from poorer households and four times more likely to drop out of school of opt out of junior secondary school. Of those who decide to attend primary school, nearly 1 in 5 rural children do not advance to junior secondary compared to 1 in 10 urban children. This shows the impact house location has on the academic future of the children. Understanding and responding to these issues is central UNICEF's work. UNICEF's goals in education include: strengthening the collection of data of children in schools through community based systems, assessing the reasons as to why young children do not participate in early childhood development which limits their success in completing primary classes, improving the skills of school faculty, deliver quality primary education that reaches all children despite socioeconomic status, and finally provide better services for marginalized children through school-based management. The success this organization has had is one of the many reasons seventeen percent of the loan is used for education.
