Millennium Summit
United Nations headquarters in New York.
During September of 2000, 193 United Nations and 23 International Organizations assembled together in New York, specifically at the United Nations headquarters. This event was the beginning of a brighter future by adopting the United Nations Millennium Declaration. This meant that world leaders from around the world were committing their nations to a new global partnership in order to reduce poverty and hunger and other issues. These eight goals are set to be fulfilled by the year 2015 and are now know as the "Millennium Development Goals."
