Child health IN INDONESIA
Indonesia is known as the world’s fourth most populous country and is home to 240 million people. With widespread poverty and political instability these problems hinder Indonesia’s potential to develop. Indonesia is prone to natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and even tsunamis. In 2004, Indonesia was hit by an epic hurricane and tsunami causing devastation in Aceh Province. Malnutrition plagues the growth and health of the 242.3 million individuals that live in Indonesia. National data indicates that 28% of children under the age of 5 are underweight and that 44% of children suffer from stunted growth. In Indonesia, there is an organization that provides funds in order to improve feeding practices, education, and services for childhood development. Educational programs will enhance children’s knowledge in order to improve their health and nutrition.
